{"id":2122,"date":"2024-08-08T09:00:15","date_gmt":"2024-08-08T09:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/d-tacs.com\/keeping-the-work-environment-safe-with-commissioning\/"},"modified":"2024-08-08T09:00:15","modified_gmt":"2024-08-08T09:00:15","slug":"keeping-the-work-environment-safe-with-commissioning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/d-tacs.com\/en\/keeping-the-work-environment-safe-with-commissioning\/","title":{"rendered":"Keeping the work environment safe with commissioning"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A work environment that is safe, regardless of industry, is invaluable.\nWorkers must be able to trust the conditions in which they perform work, knowing that their health and well-being are being observed.\nOne aspect still often overlooked, but essential to ensuring a safe work environment, is commissioning.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Commissioning and safety<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Commissioning is a crucial step prior to the full operational phase of a project.\nThe link between commissioning and a <a href=\"https:\/\/d-tacs.com\/standards-commissioning\/?lang=en\">safe working environment<\/a> is essential for worker health and safety.\nOne of the most important aspects of commissioning is identifying and resolving potential safety hazards before a facility becomes operational.\nThis includes testing fire safety systems, electrical systems, mechanical equipment and other critical systems.\nThis ensures that they comply with applicable regulations and standards.\nThe ultimate goal is that when someone enters the building, they can get to their (work) area without any hindrance.\nThis should feel natural.\nYou shouldn&#8217;t have to look around three times to see if the coast is clear.       <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A safe process<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, commissioning itself must be done safely.\nCommissioners must behave safely and follow the rules.\nIt is also important that they ensure that the surrounding area experiences no, or at least as little, inconvenience as possible.\nFor example, consider the passengers at Schiphol Airport.\nThis requires cordoning off the workplace, and ensuring that everything in the work environment is done safely.    <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Test Environment<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Detailed testing and inspections of a construction project and its associated equipment and systems are essential to ensure a safe working environment.\nThis process ensures that everything functions correctly according to specifications and design standards.\nThorough testing identifies potential hazards and defects before the building is occupied.\nIn this way, accidents and emergencies can be prevented, directly contributing to a safer work environment.   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Equally safe everywhere<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An office building should be as safe as an airplane.\nWhen you board an airplane, you expect to find a safe environment where all the necessary tests have been performed.\nIf this is not the case, accidents can happen.\nAlthough people do not think about this as much when they enter an office, <a href=\"https:\/\/commissioningandstartup.com\/safety-during-commissioning\/\">safety <\/a>is no less important.   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The staff<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">D-TACS staff ensure that personnel are well informed and familiar with new systems and procedures being put into use.\nThis not only helps ensure a smooth transition to the operational phase, but also improves awareness of potential hazards and proper safety precautions.\nWell-trained employees are better able to recognize potential hazards and act appropriately, increasing the overall safety of the work environment.\nAn example is a school: if CO2 levels in a classroom (or throughout the school) are too high, children can become drowsy and lose concentration.\nThis also applies to office buildings.    <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Recognizing bottlenecks<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Commissioning also focuses on identifying and addressing operational bottlenecks.\nBy preventing accidents and failures, downtime is reduced and production losses are minimized, improving overall business performance.\nThis process ensures that all potential risks and issues are addressed before plants are fully operational.\nReducing these operational bottlenecks reduces the risk of failures and accidents, which in turn promotes safety.   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Safety first<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do you like to guarantee a safe working environment during the construction process, or afterwards?
