Wrong construction drawings lead to higher costs of rebuilding Afsluitdijk

Wrong construction plans led to a debacle in the rebuilding of the Afsluitdijk. By properly incorporating commissioning right from the design phase, one can help ensure that these types of setbacks do not have to occur.

The expected cost increase is already €120 million for which the State is making a reservation. The money is needed for the new design drawings that had to be made after it emerged in the fall that Rijkswaterstaat and the contractors were working with the wrong drawings in the design of the new locks at Den Oever. The Department of Public Works decided to change the designs and is footing the bill. One can hope that this is not just for adjusting the drawings alone. Surely you can draw a lot of hours for that;-)

Too bad this has to be paid for from our tax dollars. We can think of much more useful things for that.
